Extract from Greta’s Herb Book: Herbs create a peaceful ambience I have always found it mood enhancing to garden amongst them especially on balmy, summer days when their fragrance is at its richest. It is then I feel most at ease in my world!

GRETA’S HERBS, Annascaul, Co Kerry is run by Greta McCarthy, O’Brien who qualified in Amenity Horticulture at the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin in 1983. She was proprietor of Greta’s Garden Centre in Bray and Greystones, Co Wicklow.

She moved to Kerry in 1998 where she has spent over 25 years specialising in the growing and selling of potted herbs on the Dingle Peninsula.

She has written extensively on the topic of herbs and in 2017 published her book ‘Greta’s Herbs, Growing Wild in the West of Ireland’ which was launched in the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin.

Greta gives talks and demonstrations on Herb Growing at various events. She facilitates various Garden Courses in Co Kerry and is a part-time tutor with Kerry Education Training Board.
